A late Victorian mansion, Somerton House bears the graceful architectural distinction of its era. The house was designed by Alexander (Greek) Thomas whose hallmark is reflected in the now almost extinct Kauri Timber panelling and fine fireplaces.
Highly recommended by "A Taste of Scotland" and CANRA for good food and accommodation, Somerton House lives up to its well earned reputation.
The restaurant exudes an elegance rarely seen nowadays, yet enjoys a quiet intimacy in which visitors can sample the delights of a superb a la carte menu featuring the finest Scottish fayre. Galloway pork, beef and lamb feature prominently, and the best of Scottish fish, seafood and game in season serve to satisfy the most discerning palate.

A member of the "A Taste of Scotland" scheme, the restaurant has received a number of accolades including a European Food & Drink Award and a CAMRA recommendation for good food and accommodation. All food is, of course, freshly prepared, where possible from locally grown produce, and the menu is complemented by an excellent wine list.
